SISTROM CLINKER
During use concrete and granite are exposed to the processes of erosion and carbonization of the surface and as a result the original color is lost and after few years it is hard to tell the difference between granite and grey asphalt. German clinker paving stones are made by baking of high-melting clay with 1300 C temperature. Practically it is the baked ceramic which has the same color for centuries. However if one want to obtain strong and durable clinker it is necessary as it was told to use special kinds of clay and spend a lot of energy for baking. That’s why such nice German clinker paving stones are so expensive today. But there is another serious problem which can leads to restriction of use of such German clinker paving stones in Russia. It is freeze-thaw resistance of German clinker – just F300 with water absorption from 3 to 6%. Such parameters are admissible for mild European climate, but if the products are used in long severe Russian winters they should have better characteristics.
In 2017 company SISTROM has developed new material which was called “cast clinker” and the technology of its production. This material also has clinker but its amount is only 25% and it is cement which is obtained by grinding of the clinker which was baked with 1400 C temperature.
The compressive strength of the cast clinker is much higher than ceramic clinker. The cast clinker has compressive strength of 120 MPa (ceramic clinker pavement has 80 MPa), freeze-thaw resistance is F500 (German clinker has F300), water absorption is less than 1,5%. But the main thing is that the CAST CLINKER has the special protection of the surface which keeps the original colors for many years and preserves the surface from erosion and blooming.
